I’ll join you in the downvotes. There’s many reasons to hate YouTube. Asking them to pay for video content to everyone for free is a bit silly.

I’m also not saying you shouldn’t use alternatives or run an ad-blocker. Those are cool. I just find it funny how someone is saying: “I get some benefit in paying for this service” results in such backlash, lol.

I’m not the guy replying and I agree with you “to a degree”. Although I got burned out listening to the “other side” for years. I don’t even really listen to “my side” … or at least I don’t think. The right-wing manosphere loves culture wars and complain about people starting culture wars so much to me it’s tiring to listen.

I do admire your ability to go through it. I think I probably would have kept listening if the “other side” wasn’t in charge of so much and reeking havoc.

I remember someone asking about Jon Stewart and The Daily Show during the Bill Clinton administration if he could keep doing his comedy if times were bad. He said something to the affect of, it works better when times are good. Which always struck me as funny because he flourished even moreso afterwards and was then accused on loving the bad times so much because he profits from it by lazy journalists. Quite similar to me. I just barely care enough about my parents. Also, thanks to the financial situation we’re in … they’ve decided to move into my house and not move out.

Like I earn decent change (not enough for two mortgages, mind you) but I’m already in my forties and I’m waiting for them to pass. I’m barely mentally holding onto living this day-to-day life while not freaking out on them on the regular.
