  • What’s the public mood? It’s a big country and everyone is affected differently. Those who joined army in '22 are drained because there is no end date to their service. Those who found themselves a job that has protection from mobilisation can live more or less normal live, except for sleepless nights due to shahed bombings. Those who are falling into mobilisation group are highly nervous and generally try to avoid going out of home unless needed.

Exhaustion is high, but what’s an alternative? I don’t see the will to accept surrender.

Understandable. Thank you for your insight into the matter.

All my hopes are for an eventual Ukrainian victory leading to a lasting and just peace.

  • if Progressives are supposed to vote blue no matter who, then Centrists can too. If someone like Mamdani beats Newsom in the 2028 primary they can suck it up and vote for him.

They should. But like the many left-abstainers in 2024, it remains to be seen if they will.

If someone like Mamdani runs in the 2028 primary (Mamdani himself being sadly ineligible), they will have my general and primary vote. God forbid a shithead neolib like Newsom gets through.

But ‘Blue No Matter Who’ is an expression of desperation against the fascists in the GOP, not a magic formula, as much as we wish it was.

  • Things the US will forget:

    Korean War (3mil civilian dead)

    Vietnam War (2mil civilian dead)

    Iraqi War (1mil civilian dead)

Imagine thinking that the US has forgotten any of these when they’re a constantly pressure on the cultural zeitgeist even literal decades later. Or, for that matter, that the Korean War is in any way comparable.

Violent overthrow of Afghanistan (twice, over 1 mil dead)

Twice? Christ, tell me you aren’t talking about the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Not to mention that the ‘overthrow’ of ‘Afghanistan’ the second time would rely on recognizing the Taliban, and not the democratically-oriented Northern Alliance which was fighting them at the time, as the legitimate government of Afghanistan.
