PayPal and Palantir cofounder Peter Thiel is embarking on an unusual intellectual journey this fall—delivering a sold-out four-part lecture series on the biblical figure of the Antichrist. The private lectures, which will be held at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco, represent the latest evolution in Thiel’s increasingly public theological interests that intertwine his Christian faith with his concerns about technology’s potential to enable authoritarian control.
Putting aside the evil of Peter Thiel, which I’m sure everyone else will elaborate on fully, if you’ve ever heard this guy speak, listening to a whole ass lecture by him would be hellish.
Idk what the rules about protests are in SF but IMO it’s really important when/if you protest something like this and go for fire and brimstone style, still try to make it welcoming and fun/block party vibe if possible. Like just have fun with it. I honestly think it would be a blast to have a big ass public party where you cosplay as hellfire and damnation crowd/look the part but you’re just really gathering as a community and airing your grievances about this insane bullshit. Bc at the end of the day, you don’t want to let anyone forget how over the top ridiculous it is for him to even do this.
To be preaching about Christianity while using his tech to commit genocide and tear apart families is the height of just too much bullshit piled on top of too much other bullshit.
so not only do you not give him any sort of victimhood narrative to use by protesting his hypocrisy or any unintentional free publicity, you also end up drawing more of a crowd bc more people would rather be having fun as a lively community than listening to some weird hypocrite tell them about how much fun they can have in an eternal virtual AI afterlife they pay for. (Which yeah I’m guessing making it a more fun alternative probably isn’t going to be too difficult).
