Finally I have a valid reason to learn about memory management. It was also hella weird when encountering it.

It’s an absolute behemoth of the language filled with warts and cruft. Sometimes it is the best choice for a project, but I prefer languages with simple, orthogonal concepts.
FWIW you can use C++ on Arduino.
