I floored some smooth brain today by letting them know while Clinton was left of Bush II, Clinton wasn’t a “centrist”. I pointed out NAFTA was the most damaging piece of economic legislation to the US middle and lower class in the last 50 years. They assumed I supported right wing policy as a result. You know, because if you don’t agree Dems are the good guys you must support the right wing, amirite?

Very mediocre orators for a very long time only getting by because nationally Republicans sounded just as robotic until Trump. Democrats need people that are fiery and probably funny. Bill Clinton and Obama, both win off Republican failings and incumbency being good things at the time as stability was valued. Reagan/Bush recession and Ross Perot for Bill Clinton. Iraq/Afghanistan and great recession for Obama. Incumbency advantage for the presidency died by 2016 and Hilary Clinton didn’t have the sound bites trump could churn out

I think this misses the forest for the trees as a charismatic leader isn’t going to solve the root of the issue, which is that Democrats resemble the right more than the left and rarely ever follow through with the “fighting for the working person!” rhetoric they love to spout off on TV right before an election.

This. Those that do this got to vote against trump twice: Once in the primary, once in the general. Also “registering” in some states is simply saying the name of the party when you vote in the primary. You are given that party’s ballot, and your name shows up as “registered” for that party.
We’re literally talking about people leaving the democratic party. That’s the opposite of joining. Are you dense?
