You forget the vast majority of Americans are literally too dumb and apathetic from burnout to understand this cause and effect.

I think apathy is an issue in all western countries face, not just americans. Here in Germany people also need their meat and you even will be often ridiculed for saying you are a vegetarian or vegan.
