I’m still of the opinion that 2000 was peak Windows. It didn’t get in your way, had minimal added bullshit, but was significantly more stable than the 9x series due to being based on NT, and had wide hardware support at the time thanks to largely being able to use the same drivers as the subsequent XP. It’s been all downhill one way or another ever since.

100%. 2000pro was first and last time I felt like OS just worked and didn’t have to pay attention to it. This is what OS should be.
