“I trust my ministers, but, let’s say, it (drones) flew a few meters over there, so what? Ukraine is not an independent country, not a sovereign country,” the Hungarian prime minister said in a pro-government political talk show.

“We support Ukraine, the West supports it, we give it weapons — Ukraine should not behave as if it is a sovereign state.”

I can kinda see what he means? So what if a few NATO drones violate Ukrainian airspace. It’s not like we’re bombing them

Even if we accept that line of reasoning, which I don’t, Hungary specifically is doing fuck all to help Ukraine outside of collective EU assistance that its MEPs usually vote against. Orban should not be including Hungary in the “we” of “we support Ukraine”

Just because Hungary is a NATO member doesn’t make all their troops and equipment NATO. E.g. if you’re a soldier crossing into another member’s territory, you need a NATO travel order to prove that your presence is warranted and actually covered under the treatment. And even then, Ukraine isn’t a NATO member nor have they given a permission for NATO members to violate their airspace.

So what if a few NATO drones violate Ukrainian airspace.

Violating another country’s airspace with military aircraft is pretty high on the don’t do list; Ukraine could in return close its airspace to Hungarian aircraft
